ABOUT

Telangiectasia, (spider veins and broken capillaries), may appear anywhere on the face, typically around the nose, on the upper cheeks and chin. Varicose and spider veins can occur on the legs and present as red or blue vessels.

CAUSES

Telangectaisas and leg veins are caused by many factors. Hormones; genetics; obesity, trauma, venous insufficiency, or underlying medical conditions.

TREATMENTS

Laser therapy: lasers use heat energy to destroy the vessel and seal it off thereby eliminating the veins and the redness. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) uses a flash lamp technology to destroy superficial spider veins. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a sclerosing agent into the vessels to cause the veins to collapse.

Compression stockings and lifestyle changes can help prevent unwanted veins.
